ABOUT THE CHARACTERS
Leon S. Kennedy
Having survived the horrors of Raccoon City, the former rookie cop from Resident Evil 2 has returned. Yay. After going through tons of training, Leon is now working for a government agency. Leon's assignment (might I add - first assignment) is to rescue the president's kidnapped daughter, Ashley. Leon arrives in a remote South American village - where Ashley was allegedly sighted - only to find himself caught up in the vicious actions of the local cult community, the Los Illuminados. Leon is not your typical video game hero. He has the looks, but his attitude is jaded, cynical and at times... idiotic. He's a good guy overall, only wanting to protect innocent people.
Jack Krauser
Krauser is quite the mystery. The only thing known about his past is that he used to be in military training with Leon (or something along those lines). Somehow, Krauser faked his death in a helicopter crash. But now Krauser is working with Wesker and Ada. It’s most plausible he’s employed by the HCF. The man kidnapped Ashley to gain Lord Saddler’s trust. Both him and Ada were sent to the island in order to obtain a sample of the Plaga. It’s quite obvious he does not get along with Ada, but his terms with Wesker are unknown. Krauser appears to be infected with some kind of virus. [Personally] I believe it may be some kind of combination between the T-Virus and the Plaga due to the different characteristics of his appearance and abilities
Leon and Krauser
Krauser and Leon have their first reunion quite sometime after Leon arrives at ‘the island’. At first Leon seems very shocked and confused on the fact Krauser is alive, but he is unable to react any further due to Krauser attacking him. The man is very vague with explaining what he’s doing there, and continues to try killing the ex-cop. Leon figures out that his old buddy is the one who kidnapped Ashley, and Krauser lets it slip that there are plans to restore Umbrella, leaving Leon puzzled. The two end up fighting for quite a while until Ada shows up, saving Leon’s life. Krauser jumps away on a platform, leaving Ada and Leon alone.
Later, Leon runs into Krauser again before entering the fortress ruins where Ashley is being held near. Krauser appears to have come up with a plan to slow-down Leon by scattering two puzzle pieces around the dilapidated area. He keeps one with himself just to make the task harder. Krauser attempts to shoot Leon, but the ex-cop is able to get away. The man continues to attack Leon, and as a player, you’re forced to fight him off while still searching for the pieces. Once you obtain the first one, Leon asks Krauser why he wants to restore Umbrella. Krauser responds, “To bring order and balance to this insane world of ours.” (Snarky little man, eh?)
As you continue to search for the items, Krauser asks what Leon fights for. Leon, responds, “Our past, I suppose.” Quite the interesting statement, and I think it proves Leon and Krauser weren’t enemies back in their military days. After obtaining the second piece, Krauser pops up once again. This time though, his arm mutates into a Plaga-like feature, and you are forced into a boss-fight. Once Krauser is dead, Leon is able to examine his body, and the description reads: “Krauser… What happened to you? You used to be a good guy.”
Is Krauser dead?
It’s a million-dollar question. Do I believe he is? Of course not! And that has nothing to do with the fact I very much adore the man.
Krauser’s death scene was ridiculous. It was nothing. Now, that may be Capcom being cheap, but there are other reasons to believe the man is still alive. That reason is Wesker. All the other characters in the series have a direct connection to him. (example: Chris and Jill had him as a captain, Claire met him in Code: Veronica, etc.). Krauser probably was created to give Leon his own connection to Wesker, and of course give Leon a bonus story in RE4. There’s also a matter of the man being infected. There’s most likely some strain of the T-Virus in his body, and that very virus has the ability to avert damage to the carrier.
